Kiosk assignment

My first and recent assignment for my Intro to Computing Design course was to create a street kiosk. We had to create a concept, wire-frames arguing for the concept, and one Illustrator “screenshot” of the digital interface.

I designed a street kiosk that would sit outside bars and not only act as a blood alcohol content measurement machine (or “Breathalyzer”), but also as a guilt-trip to get people to stop drinking and driving. Our next project is to build the kiosk (or at least its functionality) in Flash.

The other details to the concept:
1. using a stoplight system
2. using a satellite to be able to call a cab to the kiosk’s location (if the user wants)
3. providing the amount of time the user needs to sober up enough to drive legally

Process: Insert 50 cents, a straw dispenses, blow into interface, get reading, make a decision…

Then…
People would be more aware of their own choices to drink and drive after leaving a bar; They would know their personal drinking limits and extremes.

Yes, yes. It could become a competition. But it’s all part of the appeal.
