Aspects both nostalgic and nerdy:
1. I used to have a book called “1,001 Emoticons.” I sold it in high school to Half-Price Books for something trivial. Damn me.
2. I had an “internet boyfriend” when I was in 4th grade. This was before things on the Web got scary and before pics could really be sent (unless you wanted to wait a few days). He was a 5th-grade skateboarder from New York (where are youuuuu).
3. The first time I used CSS was to change the layout of my Livejournal (LJ).
4. In 7th grade I had to go to the principal’s office for putting a quote from Dogma on my AOL profile (note: I went to Catholic school).
5. I created a fan site for the band Fuel on Geocities. Shut up.
6. Circa 4th grade: the most popular girl in class would always put “hey” in her subject headings, so everyone else did too.
7. AOL Buddy List fact: I did not have “Friends,” I had “chumz.”
8. I used to go into chatrooms and tell everyone I went to Notre Dame. One time someone asked me what my major was and I didn’t get it, so I blew my cover.
9. My first e-mail address was on Juno. Their motto was something like, “E-mail should be free.” Ahead of their time, I’d say.
10. One time I wrote a stupid poem and turned it into a chain letter. I’ll never be more famous.
