What’s with mom sites?

Coincidentally, the age yielding the greatest amount of female fertility is also the target audience for advertising revenue. Is that where the slew of “mom” sites came from, or did someone just figure out that the wallet-sized baby photos weren’t getting enough views in the real world?

Sites like IndyMoms and CafeMom provide a forum for moms to have profiles, share photos, have a “mom” blog, compete in contests, and of course, network. This ain’t the play-Bridge-with-your-neighbor-age anymore, but at least we have still evolved the act of wasting time.

Meanwhile… sites like Rebel Dad and Great Dad discuss more pertinent things–they just aren’t that popular.

Get off the computer. You’re subliminally teaching your child that MySpace is okay.
